Jn3.1

Guest
Hi,
I really want to do some evangelism/mission work in a foreign country, preferably Israel. I have looked at many websites, but I can not find one that its purpose is promulgating the gospel to the unchurced so that they may become members of the Catholic Church. I also, secondarily, would like to volunteer and do service work. There is one organization that I found called the “Catholic Network of Volunteer Services,” but they primarily do volunteer work and not gospel proclamation.
Can people please give me any help as to what mission/evangelistic organizations are available for the laity of the Church?
Thanks for your time,
In Christ, Our King,
Michael.

You should check your Diocese directory (available at every parish) and contact the Propagation of the Faith offices - they can offer direction as to their work and the training required.

If you are particularly interested in the Holy Land check out the website of the Custos of the Holy Land - plenty of information there:

Custos of the Holy Land

and then there are the Fathers of Sion who specialize in that part of the world.

Evangelism is not only not in opposition to the Works of Mercy (feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, etc. etc. etc.) but is often the best way to share the Gospel. As St. Francis said: “Preach the Gospel throughout the world; use words, if necessary.” Best wishes!
