It was uncle(brother) Esau who taught Joseph how forgiveness forms families. His example leads Joseph to forgive his brothers and that formed the nation of Israel. Joseph was a type for Jesus, for we see Jesus uses forgiveness to form His church. We have forgotten this through the years, for it is forgiveness that forms all families.

This is the purpose of confession. Priests who form the parish family, bishops who form the diocese family, and Popes who form the church family. All do this in example of Jesus.

Their example cause forgiveness in the domestic family which formed solid Catholic families through church history.

I hope all of you lissen to and pratice this biblical lesson.

Confession is more than forgiveness – although that is important.

Confession is pastoral counseling, unburdening a soul, losing guile in one’s dealing with God, learning humility and obedience, learning self-control and analysis of behaviors amd mptives.

It is believing in God’s mercy and recieving grace to overcome sin.

Confession is part of the genius of the Church and a tremendous gift from Jesus.

Confession is more about faith, hope and love. It is part of the Eucharist and being able to accept our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

I find it to be a sublime gift for our priests and their flocks.
