Glory to Jesus Christ!

I come here on Forgiveness Sunday to ask for your forgiveness for any thing I have done to offend or sin against you this past year. As we begin Great Lent tomorrow, I pray you will forgive my transgressions and imperfections. May you have a spiritually profitable Lenten period!

Lent for us starts Wed. But I also would like to be on the list. And why wait till Wed. Today is a great day to begin.

May I also add that we can all fast, and pray more this lenten season, and come closer to God and one another this year. God bless all of you.

Please explain Forgiveness Sunday and Clean Monday to me. I have not heard of them before.

In a summerized version:

Forgiveness Sunday is the last day before Lent starts.

You go to Church, pray and ask God to forgive you for your sins and you ask your family/friends to forgive you as well.

Clean Monday is the first day of Lent - which is 7 weeks long and lasts until Holy Saturday.

You fast and if you are “disciplined” enought, there is NO meat/poultry, eggs, dairy, sweets… (etc) for the 7 weeks.

Seafood & shellfish is allowed. Tons and tons of veggies & fruits. The fasting commitment is quite strict.

All Lent commitments are broken and done with Easter Sunday. After Church service on Holy Saturday, which usually starts at 11pm and ends around 1am, people would go home with lit candles from the Church and break their 7 week fast with a small meal.

Easter Sunday is a feast for all.

I’m sure Andrew, the OP will do a better job explaining it. I did my best…

You said it far better than I could have! I would also add the increased prayers and services. It is good for our souls to fast, but if we don’t pray and only fast then our fast means nothing. We are also to give alms as we are able.

I thank you so very much. I am very humble with your reply.

I admire all of your postings ~ you know much more than I and I have learned quite a bit from you regarding our faith.
 
Wish I’d seen this thread last night, so I could act in kind on the proper day, nonetheless it is never too late.
