Forgotten sin

A few confessions ago I forgot to confess a sin and this morning in confession I remembered the sin, but I didn’t know when to tell him, and I don’t what I was thinking about but then I forgot to tell him. Did I commit a mortal sin?

Forgotten mortal sin needs to be confessed in the next confession after you remember. Of course if you forget again…well it was just forgotten again…

Venial sin that was forgotten need not be confessed again.

Sounds like you perhaps just forgot again?

I assume you intended to confess it when it came to your mind…and were looking for a way to do so…but then something distracted you and you forgot??

So one would confess it in the next confession if it was mortal.

Mortal sin is done with full knowledge and deliberate consent…

Forgetting to say something…well is forgetting to say something…by nature it is something that is not known.

Hiding it is one thing. Forgetting it is another.

It is a vaild confession, you did not commit a Mortal Sin if you forgot.

This is adressed in question 215 of the Baltimore Catechism.

The paragraph informs we are to confess it next time if it was forgotten, but implies it was already forgiven in the previous confession.
