What are the chances of a (single) former Anglican/Episcopalian priest being ordained as a Catholic priest if he marries before seeking Catholic ordination? Due to the shortage of Catholic priests, would his vocation still be considered?

Do Anglican priests take a vow of celibacy at ordination if they are not already married?

What are the differences between these churches in regard to ordination and marriage?

Anglican priests do not take a vow of celibacy and can marry at any time.

If he converted, it would be up to the Vatican whether or not he’s ordained. Obviously, if he’s married when (and if) he’s ordained, he would stay married but would not be able to remarry if his wife died. If he is unmarried when (and if) he’s ordained, he would remain celibate.

If the “former” Anglican priest gets married while working a secular job and then seeks Catholic ordination, would it reduce his chances of being ordained in the Catholic Church? Would “the powers that be” question his vocation … or look at it as though he had 2 vocations?

I think it depends on the Bishop, and Rome…I will say that many protestant ministers that have converted have found other ways to serve God within the church, and they seem to be doing a stellar job

Marcus Grodi and Scott Hahn are just 2 of them…I will also say they seem remarkably happy and content with their lives

Marcus Grodi (mentioned by redrosetea), who founded “The Coming Home Network” for Protestant ministers seeking entry into the Catholic Church, would be a good one to ask:
