Hi All:

My good friend Tom Cabeen will be interviewed on his conversion to the Catholic faith on May 19th. Tom was a Bethelite and an elder. He spent some years as an Evangelical Protestant and as an Anglican. He entered the Church last year.

Tom was also instrumental in helping many ex-JWs make the transition from life in the Watchtower to life outside of it since the shunning can be so disruptive.

In addition, Tom will be one of our speakers at our Welcome Home! Catholic Conference in Weirton, WV this summer.

Jeff, I really appreciate these updates from you and will definitely put this on the calendar.

I think I tend to scare the JWs away – last time I lost my composure when told that Constantine was the Pope), and asked them the fatal question: Why do you believe the Bible is the Word of God?

Ah well. Listening to other people’s journeys is always enlightening. I know for JWs the trip is a lot rougher than it is for some of the rest of us.

Thanks jeff,

I found, then put my DVR on record for 8pm May 19th.

I had a little bit of involvement with the JW’s in the 90’s, when they were trying to get my friend to attend meetings, and to join. He never did join, and stopped going after a bit, back in the 90’s.

I found your story HERE
The JW’s can be quite a trap, and they even had my friend going, even though he is not a member of any church. Back then in the 90’s, I had told him, that the JW’s where off track from the truth, and a cult, and that at that time I was attending an LDS Singles Ward, and when they found out thaat I, and others, were over 30, they threw us out, then I dropped out of the LDS church all together. Even the JW’s are a cult in the LDS members’ mind.

Rats! I just acquired a social engagement I can’t get out of on Monday night. I’ll try to catch it in re-run or listen when EWTN puts it up on the audio library.

Dear Jeff,

My prayer to Tom from me too, brother. From a cradle Catholic, converted to JW, and recalled back home to Catholic.

**Awesome episode! I didn’t realize coming out of JW was so severe… what conviction they have (thank you Holy Spirit!!). Thanks for the alert~👍 **

Jeff,

I heard Tom mention something about a document by Carl Olaf Johnson which refuted the dates the JWs set. Do you know what this document is, and is it online? I googled his name but there are many documents/books written by him.

I was out until 90 minutes after the show was over. But I woke up at about 1:15 and scampered downstairs to catch the encore. So I missed the first quarter hour. But what I saw was VERY good. I am definitely going to fill in that gap when EWTN puts it up on the web.

Thanks, Jeff! You are certainly our “go-to-” guy when it comes to JWs!
