Hello -
Just got a flier in the mail today for this foxfaithmovies.com/index.php

It looks more Protestant than anything, but wonder if they have ANY Catholic stuff.

I’m thinking of joining just to see what they offer, but wondering if anyone else has heard of them.

They have been sending us books and study materials for their movies to our parish. Definitly not Catholic. They sent us the book and a dvd study guide for The Last Sin Eater. It seems to be a very moving story but, It’s premise is that of an old superstition brought over from Wales? to Appalchia (1850s). When a person is buried that you must have a “sin eater” come eat their sins before they can go to Heaven. In the movie there is scene where they place bread and wine on the coffin and while the community waits with their backs turned away from the coffin, a “sin eater” unknown to the community comes into the grave yard and eats the bread and drinks the wine, thus taking away the sins of the deceased. The sin eater is dress liked a monk and it seems that it is carcariture of the Liturgy of the Eucahrist. That troubles me.
The over all message is about Christ mercy, but…

We rented One Night with the King (Esther’s Story - not a very good movie, btw) and it had an ad for Fox Faith Movies on it. I didn’t recognize most of the movies in the ad except for The Passion of the Christ.

I’m sorry that I have no specific information to post. But I’ve heard through Protestant sources that FoxFaith is an effort by Fox to respond to the demand (and there is a demand, thank God) for family-friendly movies that are positive about faith.

I say, HOORAY! Even if the movies are not Grade A, Oscar-calibre movies, it’s still nice to know that there is an attempt being made in Hollywood to show something that doesn’t insult Our Lord and His people. God bless the entertainment mogul(s) who are working on this project, which I’m sure is a thankless project in pagan Hollywood.

I’d say that if you watch movies, show your support for this venture. I’m not sure if the movies are lame (I’m guessing that many of them are pretty lame), but if they do show a good’un, then write Fox and let them know that you appreciate seeing a movie with a positive view of faith and God.
