As I come closer to my long-delayed Confirmation, I realize that another passion of mine, history is tied into Catholicism. Years ago, I recall reading briefly about this radical Catholic priest reknowned for his fervent anti-New Deal/FDR/Socialist agenda. Charles Edward Coughlin was a Catholic priest who at one time during the 1930s, had nearly 45 million listeners on radio. He was definitely controversial and an impassioned speaker. I’m just getting to know his work, but I know I am definitely in for some interesting reading. I have to wonder if Coughlin’s controversial speeches have anything to do with 20th century anti-Catholic views in the USA. Here are some links:
