Fraternal Oaths

Is it sinful to swear oaths on the Holy Bible promising not to violate the secrecy of a fraternity? Ought I as a Catholic to refuse participation in rituals which require such swearing of oaths?

I would avoid it. Certainly sounds to me like an unnecessary oath.
