Free Will - Hell and Mortal Sin

I will have faith, but I’m sure theres an answer to all this.

If God gives us the grace to never sin before we have made our free choice for him, he has essentially “kidnaped” us. So it is only after we have made our free choice for him (not just an intellectual choice, but a life choice) that he gives us, after death, the grace to avoid all sin.

But what if we make that life choice to follow God, and he gives us the grace to always follow him. Aren’t we then trapped because we can’t turn away after this initial choice?
