French kissing? Passionate kissing?

I have a question about kissing. So, I know that sexual intercourse before marriage is mortally sinful, but is passionate/French kissing? I have heard so many different opinions on this, in particular, I can’t tell if Pope Alexander VII condemned it as mortal or just said it was venial. If I have ABSOLUTELY no intent to have sex with a girl, but I still French kiss with her( of course with her consent )is it sinful? Mortal? Venial? Thank you all for your help!
 
The question shouldn’t be “Could I?” but “Should I?” French kissing prepares the body and mind for intercourse. It is a near occasion of sin among the unmarried. Do not do it.
 
Yes sinful , it is a form of foreplay.
This bodily expression will stimulate arousal and spur your body to seek more. Good within marriage and not before marriage.

Also , it puts you into the mindset of wanting to skirt around boundaries which is not nice to God.

Perhaps you could transmute those feelings into praying with each other , exercise , getting to know each other values and dreams .
 
Has nothing to do with Pope Alexander and everything to do with it being a sexually arousing activity for both you and the girl.
It’s putting yourself into a near occasion of sin. Avoid.

Even if it is a venial sin it is still wrong to do it, in fact you should rather the world be destroyed than just one venial sin be committed. But I am confused as to how I should categorize issues such as these…especially with so many opinions out there. And I am just wondering if this would be a grave enough sin to count as mortal?

I have not previously engaged in this action, I am just wondering for future reference. What do you think is right in gods eyes?
 
I visited Croatia a few years ago and was struck by the large numbers of young people engaged in the subject of this thread. The next day I noticed long queues of young people waiting for confession. But correlation does not imply causality as we all know…
 
It seems that Pope Alexander VII was saying it was grave if it arouses the passions, if it is done for our personal pleasure.

Maybe some people have sluggish libidos, I can’t really say, but that kind of activity sends me from 0-100. It would be a mortal sin for me for sure. Moreover, I’d certainly be doing it for my own pleasure and if I could lie to myself about doing it solely to show her love, I’d be lying to myself and know it in about 2 seconds.

Can you really say that you’re doing it to show her love and not to give yourself pleasure or arousal? Can you not show her love in a more temperate yet likely more meaningful way? The less you physically share with someone who isn’t your wife and isn’t going to be the better for you, her and your future wife and her future husband. Remember, you have to love all four of these people to the best of your ability, which includes superpowering that ability with God’s grace.

If someone gave you an axe, would you use it to chop in half the Mona Lisa? You probably could, but does that mean you should hack away at the Mona Lisa? No.

So, if you wouldn’t hack away at the Mona Lisa, one of the great works of art, (notwithstanding the fact that it’s in the Louvre), then WHY would you want to desecrate a person made in the Image of God, Who created her, gave her a Guardian Angel who is watching her 24/7 (and can easily whack someone if God permitted it). Would you do that in the presence of her parents? If not, then WHY would you do it in the Presence of God Himself Who Is everywhere present and in the presence of your and her Guardian Angels?

Angel of God, my Guardian dear,
To whom His love commits me here,
Ever this day (night) be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide.
From stain of sin, oh keep me free
And at my death my helper be. Amen.
