What are some examples of Friday penance that you perform? I have known about the need to perform some form of penance on Friday’s outside of Lent for a while, but have not found something to do. Would spending extra time in prayer be one way?

Depends on the family’s schedule for the day. Some Fridays we abstain from meat. Other times I’ll fast until the afternoon. Or we might give up “screen time” (computers, video games, tellie).

I usually do on Fridays what I usually do everyday: Penance, pray and devotion.
 
On Fridays, I may skip a meal or instead of a hamburger for lunch, I will have tuna on Tricuits (sometimes, I will order a veggie delight sub from Subway and stuff it with a pouch of tuna).

On Fridays, I will leave the radio off to and from work (I commute).

On Fridays, I’ll dress in black (or white shirt and black pants). I have been asked frequently why I do and I will say something along the lines of “to honor the day of the week on which our salvation was won.”
