Ok, this is how the game works.

You have to say 5 things good about a different denomination (yes RCC counts as a denomination) So for example:

If your Catholic you say 5 good things about either Protestants or Orthodox, if your protestant you say 5 good things about either Catholics or Orthodox.

I hope this helps improve relations on here, and its fun. I’ll start:

5 Good things about the RCC:
  1. History (THis is good and bad, but its good on the side)
  2. Devotion
  3. Huge Cathedrals (Size isn’t a real matter, but I think their mighty pertty, yes I know I mis-spelled Pretty, its a joke)
  4. Largest denomination of Christianity in the world
  5. Monks (Very devoted, and have helped a lot in society)
 
Ok, 5 good things about Protestants. This is easy because my best friend is Protestant.

They love God deeply.
Most are deeply invested in their local communities, with a strong emphasis on fellowship.
Dime-a-dip (now with inflation practically up to ‘dollar-a-dip’) church suppers, usually at least half a dozen superb bakers/cooks even in the tiniest church groups.
Very often terrific ‘work ethics’ as well as really strong family values.
Having a Protestant as a friend usually encourages Catholics to be more informed and educated about the Catholic faith, to share and compare, and also helps them to learn more about their friend’s Protestant faith and appreciate the similarities they both share.
 
Baptists:
  1. Know (I mean REALLY know) the Bible
  2. Are not afraid to talk about their faith
  3. Are not afraid to call sin what it is
  4. Love going to church
  5. Support lots of missionary work
 
Protestants:
  1. love of Scripture
  2. complete dependence/devotion on and for Christ
  3. C.S. Lewis 👍
  4. pro-life stance (most of them anyways)
  5. work in the third world countries

Lutherans
  1. Great church music/singing
  2. Good church fellowship
  3. Strong faith convictions
  4. Social justice programs
  5. Small colleges with solid social work, education, and music programs

Catholics:
  1. Wonderful and beautiful liturgy
  2. The few priests that I know are much cooler than I thought they would be
  3. Wonderful authors who are full of wisdom
  4. Beautiful churches
  5. They make for pretty good conversation;)
 
For a couple of years my daughter went to a (Southern) Baptist High School. 5 good things about the (Southern) Baptists are:
  1. Their hospitality.
  2. Their hymns.
  3. Good church fellowship.
  4. Strong faith convictions.
  5. Small schools with strict discipline and a good environment to learn.
So there you have it.

Hmm. I’m in the middle but currently Methodist.

Catholics:
  1. Leaders not afraid of the tough stand.
  2. REALLY spiffy Churches in Europe.
  3. Always seem friendly here on CAF
  4. That whole “Build My church and the gates off hell shall not prevail” thing.
  5. Monks who make beer and wine!!!

Muslims:
  1. Gave us coffee.
  2. Pray five times a day.
  3. Make holy pilgrimages.
  4. Respect the authority of fathers.
  5. Weave some neat-looking rugs.
 
Orthodox:
  1. Beautiful Liturgical music
  2. Icons
  3. Keeping traditional forms from early Christianity
  4. Monasteries
  5. Keeping religion as an integral part of daily life and social relationships
 
Jews:
  1. Monotheism started here.
  2. Incredibly resilient–never give up.
  3. Great food whether it’s Sephardic or Ashkenazic.
  4. Incredibly gifted in literary fields.
  5. There is no better support than a good Jewish mother in your life!

I’ll just say ditto to that as a former Baptist!!
 
Mormons:
  1. Beautiful temples
  2. Family is very important
  3. Morally upright people.
  4. Young men go on mission trips.
  5. The Osmonds.
 
Jehovah’s Witnesses:

Strong brotherhood between folks of different races.

No burning hell

Gutsy to go door-to-door

Build their Kingdom Halls in 3 days

Snappy dressers
 
Orthodox Jews
  1. The use of rituals which emphasize the importance of the goodness of the God-made world.
  2. The stress on community (both today and with the past) and family along with the need to “repair the world” (Tikkum)
  3. The awareness of the presence of the Divine
  4. The emphasis on study and learning of the Torah, Talmud and the Midrash
  5. Good kosher food and delis, and of course, chicken soup.
 
Muslims:
  1. could teach most Catholics a thing or a hundred about fasting
  2. pro-life and family-oriented
  3. recognition of the value of outward as well as inner practice of faith (dressing modestly and so on)
  4. recognise that wealth and pleasure aren’t evil in themselves, unlike some Christian denominations
  5. really value education, at least the ones I’ve met
 
Amish:
  1. Dress Modestly.
  2. Practice Forgiveness.
  3. Don’t have to worry about rising energy bills or the cost of gas.
  4. Good cooks.
  5. Didn’t vote for Obama. 😃
