I have a friend who’s nominally nondemoninational Christian, and has spent many years without God or prayer. She was recently invited to go to a church service by her friend. I don’t want to turn her off from God, but don’t want her to go to a Protestant service either.

What should I do or say (if anything)?

Invite her to come to your parish the Sunday after she goes to the other church, and let her decide which she prefers.

Please do not forget that God and Jesus is in the protestant church as well. This may be an initial call from God to bring her back to Him first. Her decision to stay with the protestant church or return to the Catholic Church can be made later. Give her all the encouragement you can for this first step. cbg

👍 I agree with cbg, and keep an open dialogue with her which will allow you to share your Catholic faith with her. Let the Holy Spirit take over from there!

Does she know how much you love your faith?
Do you know how much she understands about Gd and His church?
Would she read a book? CA has a great selection of basic belief, conversion stories, etc.
Would she visit the CA website or these forums?
I believe deeply that the Catechism is an inspired work.
Would she heed your warnings if she was in a bad denomination?
