First of all, let me clarify that I am NOT Atheist; I believe in The One True Mighty God. I wanted to start this thread because I wanted to understand why Atheists believe that there is no such things as a God.

Second, this post is NOT intended to mock or offend anyone’s personal beliefs. Every human being has the right to believe in whatever they wish, whether they believe in The Lord or not is up to one’s choice, and I am in no way forcing my Christian beliefs to those who do not share my faith.

Okay then, now back to the topic, shall we? I have always believed in the existence of an Omnipotent Force, a Being who has created this universe and everything in it. I believe in a Lord who loves and cares for his creations, even though they are imperfect. I have also wondered why there are people who don’t believe in this Being. I always wondered why so many people deny or cannot accept the existence of a God.

“To put oneself in another’s shoes”, as the saying goes, is the best way to understand other people. I now see that to comprehend the Atheist notion of there being no God, that the universe and everything in it was not the result of Divine Intervention, I must place myself in the position of the Atheist. So, in this post, I wanted to list all possible reasons that I could think of why Atheists believe that there is no God.

Please note that I am not Atheist myself, therefore the things that I post may not necessarily be true. I also ask you, fellow Atheists, to also post and write your own reasons of why you think that a God cannot possibly exist. I want to hear your opinion, hence the title: From an Atheist’s point of view. I only wish to have a friendly conversation; to understand your point of view, so please do not make this thread into a battleground for Theist vs Atheist heated arguments; and that goes to all of you, whether Theist or likewise. Thank you.

Now here are a few reasons that I could think up of why a person would become Atheist:

1. God, angels, demons, miracles, etc. CANNOT be scientifically proven
This is possibly the most common argument that I usually hear when speaking with Atheists. And yes, it does make sense. We live in the 21st century: the age of science. Our world is being shaped by new technologies and developments, and all thanks to the advancement and innovations of science. Science itself states that for something to be true, it must be proven. The scientific method requires scientists to draw conclusions based on evidence, from controlled experiments.

Bottom line: if we can’t see, hear, smell, or touch God, then he’s not real.

2. God and religion are based on fairy tales
To the Atheist, the notion of an All-Powerful, All-Seeing and All-Divine Being demanding worship and sacrifices may sound ridiculous. “If God is so All-Powerful then why can’t He fix every problem of the world with a snap of His finger?”, “Why do people worship something that we can’t see, hear or touch?”, “All of this worship hippy-happa is stupid and nonsense! We should be making great achievements, not believe in fables!”

3. Religion is just a scam
Many Atheists think that religion is nothing more than an organisation that brainwashes people into believing what they believe, so they can be ‘assimilated’ and become ‘one of them’. Religion is just a hoax intended to make millions just by brainwashing innocent people. Why else are the people asked to donate money for their local church?

4. If God is real then why are all these bad things happening?
If an Almighty Being existed, then why does He let poverty, hunger and starvation occur? Why do innocent people die and the bad people get away with everything?

I read a story once, an anecdote, about a fellow’s reason for becoming Atheist. Long story short; he had a good friend who was murdered and wondered if God existed why did he just “sit there and do nothing” while his friend was being stabbed to death.

5. People do stupid things in the name of God
You name it. Crusades, suicide bombings, mass murder, etc.

6. Humans don’t have the need of believing in a Superior Being, for we are superior ourselves
Maybe Atheists believe that we look ridiculous by believing that we are inferior, puny little beings who will never understand the Mystery and Greatness of God. We have achieved so much during our existence, and why should we stop right here? There is so much more to be done.

Well, those are all the reasons that I could think of. If you are an Atheist and wish to post your own opinion, please do! I have absolutely no problem of being criticised, as long as it is friendly and not intended to spark an argument or to offend anyone.

Thank you, and may God Bless you all. 👍
