From which religious order/society would you like your next pastor to come from?

Dominican
Capuchin
Other Franciscan
Camaldolese Benedictine
Trappist (please bring Trappist ale!)
Other Benedictine
Carmelite (either branch)

I’m not familiar enough with the others to render a vote, so please don’t read anything in to their exclusion.

Currently, I attend Masses at a Institute of Christ the King! Solemn High Masses Sunday’s at 11 and 7 pm on Holy Days of Obligation and First Fridays! And lucky me…it’s only 12 miles from my house.

There is a Church literally in my back yard, but shortly after I converted (2015) it closed. I’ve been praying for a miracle (I miss the bells) and that an FSSP order would come in and re-open it.

But then I would be torn…here is the ICK parish I get to go to now:

If your parish was going to receive two new religious priests as your pastor and parochial vicar, which religious order or society would you prefer they come from?

I prefer they come from God. He can work out His details for His Priests.
We get new Priests regularly, don’t you?

The priests at my parishes have only ever been Diocesan. Although I went to Benedictine College, where the priests who celebrated Mass were, unsurprisingly, Benedictine.

I my next pastor wasn’t going to be diocesan, I would choose Benedictine, as they have had a lot of influence in my life and their lifestyle of Ora et Labora, prayer and work, that is so beautiful.

I very much like Benedictines. For whatever reason, they seem wiser than a lot of others. I’ll admit, of course, that my experience of other order priests has been limited.

Opus Dei but they aren’t parish priests. They’re the best.

I wouldn’t much doubt that. I don’t know a whole lot about Opus Dei, but my son worked for them for a summer in the Bronx, teaching academic subjects and character building to disadvantaged boys. Those priests are smarter than smart, and exceptionally spiritual but in a down-to-earth way.

In the very rare case they are sort of parish priests. They run St. Mary of the Angels in Chicago. Cardinal Bernardin put them in charge.
