I rarely open my front door to solicitors, but today I opened it to a young woman. She was obviously not from this area. She was a polite young lady, and trying to make a living going door to door with one of those magazine sales things that are often scammy.

She was good and had been taught to find common ground. But she was obviously not as educated as many have the opportunity to be; she did have heart, though, and did her trained spiel very well.

Now, I’m not going to buy magazines, especially in this way; many times people ‘subscribe’ but never get the magazine. I’m also smart enough not to take anything someone hands to me, because they won’t take it back and people are too polite just to put it on the ground if they won’t take it back.

I didn’t order magazines, of course, but I asked her to wait and I’d be right back. Now, do you THINK I could find my Rosary pamphlet right away? They are all in the car out front; so are my extra Rosaries. Finally, after 30 seconds that seemed like 10 minutes, I found one, plus the 15 promises of the Rosary bookmark, and a rosary I received in the mail as a gift with purchase. I gathered those plus some cash for her. I told her I couldn’t help her out with her magazines, but that she seemed sincere and I wanted to buy her lunch. She then asked me for a beverage, and left quickly.

Anyway, I’m so blessed that the Lord granted me this opportunity, plus prodding my fuzzy mind to share with her. For some reason, even though she never entered my house, nor did I have the front door open much, I can smell her perfume.

Please pray for this lady and her companions.

Always look for the opportunity to share His Love.

Prayers said for the solicitor and companions that they be safe and have their needs met.
God bless you for your front door evangelization.
Mary.

What a kind and caring person you are. Praying for her and a special thank you prayer for you.

Way to go!

I made an attempt at some doorstep evangelizing once. It was actually reverse evangelization, and I’m pretty sure it didn’t do anything, but at least I tried. A family from some local church (I can’t remember the denomination for the life of me) was going door to door handing out literature and trying to get people to attend their upcoming services. I was outside washing the car and they literally surrounded me. It was the mom and 4-5 daughters. I’d heard them at a couple other houses and when they asked me if I had found Jesus, I said, “Well, yes I have!” They went into their sales pitch and I started right back with mine. I countered every blow with one of my own, which was nothing short of a miracle for me at that time. She started running through all the times for their services and I started challenging her to come to mine. When the mother realized I was talking about a Catholic church, she said something about her church being a valid church. I shot back with, “Peter, you are rock,” etc. She told me I probably wouldn’t want to challenge her with scripture and I told her to go ahead and try me, and that I might give her a run for her money. I was fresh out of my first Bible study class so I had enough lines down to keep me going until that point. Thankfully, she didn’t call my bluff. She gave me her pamphlet and I gave her that week’s bulletin which was still in the front seat. As she hurried off with her girls, I told her I hoped to see them that Sunday. I never did, but I was glad I was able to go toe to toe with her instead of just taking her literature, mumbling something about the roast burning and hurrying her off.
