As far as the vocal, will I be completely lost since it’s in latin? Should I find a latin missal and practice the responses (and figure out what they are), so I’m prepared?

I’m very interested in introducing my wife (she’s a cradle Catholic, but also born in 1965) and kids to a latin Mass, but I don’t want them to feel alienated. Robert.
Robert,

At St. Stephen’s, the red missalettes are available. I would be happy to get you one in advance if you’d like. Its very possible that you will feel lost at first, but reading a little bit in advance should be very helpful. Your wife is in the same boat as I was. I am a cradle catholic as well, born in 1964, and poorly catechized. I didn’t even know the Tridentine mass existed until a few years ago. The first TLM I attended felt like an out of body experience, but I went in there blind with no knowledge of it whatsoever. I have 5 kids who probably felt the same way at first, but now would choose the TLM over Novus Ordo every time. It helps that there are lots of kids everywhere at the TLM in Sacramento. They made alot of new friends despite the fact that we live quite far away.
