What I meant by “I don’t wish to debate this at this time” was that the context of my message would be lost if we began to debate the issue of whether or not most catholics follow (or concern themselves to a signifiacnt degree) follow the teachings of the faith. I didn’t want to dodge it, I just felt the main premise would get lost if we allowed ourselves to get sidetracked.Fair enough on this being your personal observation. I don’t know the circumstances of these Catholics. Perhaps they oppose openly to some of the Doctrine of the Faith. As for your not wanting to debate I got the impression from this comment: “I don’t wish to debate this at this time.” Anyways, nevermind. I too am thankful for your openess and honesty, as these are issue that need to be discussed among the faithful. I hope you enjoy “The Law of Love” by the Venerable Fulton J Sheen. This is a sermon that has changed my life in a very challenging way. Pax Christi
However having said that, you seem to disagree which I find interesting and enlightening. In my experiece the catholics in my life (and I mean from all aspects of my life; family; friends, coworkers and more) simply have put thier catholicism on the back burner of life. You are much younger then I and maybe your experience otherwise is a positive thing.
I have the pleasure and priviledge of being able to listen to Bishop Fulton Sheen every day on my way to work. HE, in my opinion, was the true “great communicator” of our time. I adore his every word.
