Fullfilling God Will

Hi Everyone, God bless your lifes. My wife and I have been married for 20 years. He had blessed us with 5 beautiful children. We do not want to have more children. I am in my late 50’s and my wife at her beginning 40’s. I am not in fond of having surgery for either one of us to avoid another pregnancy, but her obstetrician has suggested that my wife should go surgery to have an hysterectomy or a tubal ligation. I do not knwo what to think. Would you mind helping me to do the will of God? Thanks

Your wife needs to find a pro-life obstetrician - look for “one more soul” web-site - there may be one or more listed for your area, or you could contact them for help.

For either of you to undergo sterilization surgery would be a grave sin. Hysterectomy is, of course, allowable when there are medical problems with the uterus. It is not permissable just to ensure no further pregnancies.

Have you used Natural Family Planning at all? If not, then, perhaps you should learn it and put it into practice.

It would never be God’s will to break His commandments and undergoing sterilization surgery does just that.
