This reminds me of my JW inlaw who always asks me “do you beleive we are in the last day’s”
I always reply with a very firm “Yes, and I know we are in the last days because St Peter in acts told us that the last days had begun”
Not quite the answer she is looking for

I hate to quibble, but some are using the word “Protestant” in regard to the "Pre-Mill, Pre-trib Rapture Dispensationalist cult. And that’s not exactly fair.
Most mainline Protestant denominations do not subscribe to Dispensationalist heresy. It is a product of fundamentalist/evangelical thought. True, fundies have thier roots in Protestant denominations, but a quick look at the history of fundamentalism reveals they walked away even from Reformation philosophy. They are unfortunately the loudest voices and drown out level-headed Protestants who reject Dispensationalism.
I will make this one prediction.
Events in the future, if they continue in the direction they are going in the Mid-east, will so tarnish this philosophy, that it will finally be relegated to the trash heap of history. People like Hagee, Van Impe, and Lindsey, will be not be remembered as great seers into the future, but as great decievers. Didn’t Paul mention something about a great deception?
It will probably destroy evangelicalism/fundamentalism as we know it today, and perhaps wound Protestantism around the world.
I wish no ill will toward those denominations which reject this heresy, perhaps they can pick up the pieces admist the rubble and the Church can come closer to uniting.
yeah, I agree… it seems that way.

Just wanted to add that with this whole topic, I am also I’m reminded of Christ’s words in Mark 9 (I’m not really sure if it pertains, but I will post it anyway.)

"Dire Warnings
Code:
38John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.”39But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me.40“For he who is not against us is for us.41“For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.

42“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea.43“If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire,44[where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.]45“If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than, having your two feet, to be cast into hell,46[where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.]47“If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be cast into hell,48where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.

49“For everyone will be salted with fire.50“Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”"
I have to say that it was Protestants (Baptists and Pentecostals) that helped me come to know God better. I can’t deny that. It was when I saw error, or rather confusion within, and compared it with what my Catholic upbringing taught me, that I was able to rush back to the Catholic Church and was able to understand better. I honestly cannot speak ill of their faith, though I am thankful to God for both their faith belief and the Catholic Faith and Church. I have to say that their zeal helped me… sometimes still does. Its still a part of why I am still so confused. I’ve been told by a Franciscan monk, not to put things in neat boxes.

Lord God, Jesus Christ, please help us and have mercy on us.

That is not a paraphrasing, that is a complete obliteration of what he said since it had absolutely nothing to do with the end times.

He said, “To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant.”
She should have said, “With apologies to Cardinal Newman…”

Indeed, to be deep in history tells us that there were times that were even worse than now.

Actually no, if one considers that the bloodletting of the wars of the 20th century were the worst in history by far, and are a part of these times. And we have moved from vast amounts of physical death to vast amounts of spiritual death via apostasy. Many so called Christians practice the form of the the faith - i.e go to Church on Sunday - without practicing the faith. The love of many has grown cold. In Europe, the former heart of Christianity, secularism rules the day and the beautiful churches are empty. Apostasy is rampant throughout the Christian world, its signs being support for same-sex marriage, abortion, living together, sex before marriage, contraception and on and on.

In this age of Mary, Blessed Mary has been calling us to conversion, while warning of further chastisements in the near future. They failed to listen at Kibeho, Rwanda. We really should listen now.

God bless you.

Indeed, if we were to travel back in time and explain the current situation to the average Joe even 60 years ago they would have laughed at you, the world really has gone to back to paganism - and extremely fast.

It is true that the Fundies walked away from mainline Protestantism so much they don’t even recognize they are from the reformation.

We also must remember that most of these Christians were born into heavy pockets of evangelical influence (like were I live). Not only were they raised with this line of thought, but everyone around them believes it too. So, they don’t even question it, since they are never presented with an alternative.

The said truth is that if a real persecution of Christians ever happens in the U.S, like in other parts of the world, I predict many of them will fall away from the faith rather then suffer once they realize that they are not going to get “Raptured”.

Already happens. Fundamentalism produces more athiests than any other religion.
The sociological reasons for that are easy to spot. When a child grows up in such a rigid environment, when they are released into the “real world”, they go in the complete opposite direction of their parents.
I saw it repeatedly when I was in fundamentalism years ago. When these kids discover Catholics have no horns, that the homosexuals they work with actually have better ethics than the head of thier parent’s deacon board, that all those ‘loose women’ in the office are actually much nicer than the girls in thier youth group…it changes thier perspective.
Things like the “rapture” sound more like glorified church picnic.
