A good reading for the first reading: 1 Thess. 4: 13-18

Gospel - John 11: 21-27

These are two of the readings from the 1962 Missal Requiem Mass. The Introit and others can be found there also.

There are, as the other posters have pointed out, missals where the appropriate readings for funeral masses are listed.

But I think that this is a detail which is probably best left to the priest’s discretion. Priests are professionals who do this a hundred times a year, I think they generally know what to say, even if they didn’t know the decedent.

Planning a funeral is a huge event that has to be planned and done within a short period of time, with all of the other details that have to be attended to, this is one which I’d leave to the priest. I think that most priests know which passages they like to read, and that’s what’s most likely to result in a smooth running event.
