Here in California, this dude made the news last month with his home-made rocket that he hoped to blast off in near our tiny desert town of Amboy to prove the earth is flat (or to get publicity and notoriety). His plans were foiled (probably a blessing for him), but he is using this set-back to further his odd conspiracy theories (and to get more publicity and notoriety).

The Earth isn’t flat, the Earth is clearly a round rectangle.

That picture does not fit their theory - the stars are embeded in the dome over the flat earth - I don’t seee the dome they claim is there as for the guy about to launch him self - buy helium and a weather balloon tie a camera to it wait till it hits this so called dome over us and gets stuck there and snap some picture - hmmm that would be too easy. If the earth was flat it would be easy to prove yet these people cannot provide one single piece of evidence. They just say " well it looks flat so it must be flat" . and thats the best they can do. If there is truly a flat earther here please provide some evidence so we can discuss it. I already know you can’t.

A well-known scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the center of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy. At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: “What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.” The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, “What is the tortoise standing on?” “You’re very clever, young man, very clever,” said the old lady. “But it’s turtles all the way down!”[14]

Here are many other explanations the government doesn’t want you to know:
  1. A giant Hamster runs around inside the Earth making it spin
  2. Jellyfishes undulating movements create ocean currents
  3. Wind is created by large groups of migratory birds flying in unison

I’m banned from their forum. - nice joke so we are on Yurtle the turtles back.

Indeed

Prolly the giant hamster
Seems legit
And scientific-like

Apparently if you attempt to fly across the southern hemisphere say from Santiago,Chile to Canberra, Australia the Satnav available to passengers cuts out apx. an hours or so after takeoff and only becomes available again just before arrival at destination.
They also featured a recent report about a woman travelling from China to LA. During the flight she gave birth and the plane made an emergency landing at Anchorage, Alaska to get medical aid for the mother and baby. Why on a global earth would a plane travelling from China to LA be near Anchorage, Alaska ?

It’s called the Great Circle Route. I flew that a number of times from various cities in the U.S. to Tokyo. For the same reason, if you fly from Frankfurt or London to Washington, you’ll fly over Greenland.

Find yourself a globe and stretch a string between Beijing and LA. The shortest distance between them is not straight east and west.
