When I saw your posting, two Scriptures came to me:
The Epistle to the Hebrews, “But without faith it is impossible to please [God]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6).
St. Paul’s first epistle to the Corinthians, chapter 3, (I highlight verse 10), “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.” (Most of this chapter speaks about how one may lay a foundation and yet another may build upward upon it.)
To bring someone from ignorance of God, to the edge of belief in a Power greater than themselves can be an arduous task. To do so, is a great work and in this day almost a miracle. But we may not be able to bring them into the fullness of theological truth. If you have been blessed with the capacity to bring someone from utter ignorance, this may be a gift particular to you.
Also, from the Gospels, “35 [Jesus said], 'Say not ye,” There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest"? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. 36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. 37 And herein is that saying true, ‘One soweth, and another reapeth.’ 38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours." (St. John 4: 35 - 38).
So we pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers.
