Simple Soul, I’ve done my best to explain my persepectives to you and answer all of your questions, and I’ve done so honestly and with all my heart. I understand where you’re coming from and I understand your views. But I still have mine. Neither of us is going to change. But then, I don’t think either one of us had the goal of changing the other’s mind 🙂 My last post pretty much summed it up in a nutshell for me. Thank you for being civil, I appreciate you 🙂
*Rence, your perspective is not foreign to me I have heard it before or have had my own questions regarding it. So thank you for letting me run my thoughts by you to try and understand better why I do not believe it is a good perspective to have. As for “neither of us being willing to change” just to let you know you can speak for yourself in that regard. As for me, it is my daily prayer that I come to hear, know, understand, accept and change as I come to understand God’s voice speaking to me through His Church more clearly. I do believe that running my thoughts by you and listening to what Br. Jay said in his posts has helped me tremendously. Even though I can see more clearly now why I do not share your perspective I do appreciate your patience while I tried to understand more clearly what the Church actually teaches… *

That’s what is so beneficial about discussion forums. It’s a good way to work one’s way through the thinking process. At least for me it is. You don’t just benefit from another person (or people’s) perspectives, but you examine your own along the way.

I think I didn’t come across the way I wanted to. What I meant was, even though we are using discussion with others to work our way though our questions and understandings, I wasn’t trying to change anyone’s mind, and I think you weren’t either. There is always the possibility that along the way, something will just “click” and one will have a different perspective. But it’s not my intention to lead others to my way of thinking or to mislead anyone.

I do appreciate yours too! And you’ve been very patient! Thank you for letting me share my views with you. And thank you for sharing yours with me 🙂

Well said. Archbishop Chaput, in his book, Render unto Caesar said that at the end of the day the faithful will have to give an account to God not for how faithful they were to civil authority, but to His Church.

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂
*Reading this made me question the title of the Bishop I quoted so after inquiring as to exactly what his title is I had to come by and clarify. He is actually an Archbishop too…in fact it was Archbishop Cyril Bustros. *
