I had been to Assisi and shared with my family how awesome it was. Mother’s Day of that year my daughter surprised me with a statue of St. Francis. It was about two feet high, and very heavy. My daughter made me promise to not lift it by myself. So I had help to wrap it in a blanket and put it in the trunk of my car. A few days later our parish priest was available at a breakfast in the parish hall, so I asked him if he could bless the statue in the trunk of my car…so he came outside to the parking lot, I opened the trunk, unrolled the blanket, and he blessed it!I’ve been thinking about (in the spring) getting a stature of Our Lady for a backyard garden. Does anyone have one of these and is there a special rite that you would ask a priest to perform when placing one (like there would be when blessing a house).
