The first openly gay Anglican bishop, Gene Robinson, has called for the Roman Catholic church’s attitude to homosexuals to be confronted.

The Bishop of New Hampshire said the Vatican’s ban on ordaining gay men was “vile”, in a speech in London.

He received a standing ovation after his speech, in which he spoke of how he had faced prejudice in his role.

Some Anglican conservatives had called for the St-Martin-in-the-Fields church venue to be changed to a secular one.

" I am not here to grind any axes, I am here to do the thing that Christians do, that is to witness to the good of God"–Bishop Gene Robinson

Bishop Robinson said: "We are seeing so many Roman Catholics joining the church.

“Pope Ratzinger may be the best thing that ever happened to the Episcopal Church.”

He continued: "I find it so vile that they think they are going to end the child abuse scandal by throwing out homosexuals from seminaries.

“It is an act of violence that needs to be confronted.”

Lord God, save your little lost lambs!
“Pope Ratzinger may be the best thing that ever happened to the Episcopal Church.”
And the Catholic Church offers a home for those who are distressed by the Episcopal Church’s rejection of the clear scriptural condemnation of homosexuality and other hard teachings.

My thought: It is also the best thing for the Catholic church since the luke warm ‘liberal’. and cafeteria catholics are leaving the church leaving the truly faithful more comfortable to practice their faith as it was intended.

Why is this travesty even taken seriously? How large is the World Anglican Communion?

We shouldn’t have to answer to this man. He clearly doesn’t grasp the true teachings of his own church, and thus shouldn’t be taken seriously. Not only this, but where does he get off telling us what to do? I don’t think he has any right to judge us.

I imagine it is a thorn in our side since this made headlines, but we all must take a deep breath and look at who is making this statement. How powerful, exactly, is this man?

In conclusion: Big whoop.

I know of two different families that have converted to the RCC from the Episcopal religion over this promotion of this person to higher office in the Anglican Church. God is an expert at making lemonade out of lemons.

P.S. I refuse to call anyone except Priests and Bishops in communion with the Church by these titles. I only refer to them as Reverend as a concession to the respect our separated brethren give to them.

When I was young, I remember my sister reciting (her version of) the alphabet for my parents and a couple relatives (aunt & uncles.) I don’t remember how old she was, she was a toddler… pretty young. Anyway… after she finished, everyone screamed and carried on and hugged her and stood up and clapped their hands (a standing ovation if I ever saw one.) But I was so mad! I said… “But MOM!!! She messed it up! She said EL-EL-EM-IN-PEE!!!” Nobody seemed to care what she was saying… just that she was soooo cute. I carried a grudge against my sister for YEARS! 😉

Is that what’s up with this Bishop? People think he’s cute?

At least my sister learned how to annunciate the letters “L, M, N, O, and P” properly – do you think this Bishop will learn too?

May the Lord be with you!

The Pope uses the title “Bishop” when addressing Anglican/Episcopalian leaders, so I don’t have a problem with it. But in Robinson’s case, 95% of his own denomination refuse to recognise him as a bishop (that was why he had to speak in layman’s clothes from a lectern rather than in vestments from the sanctuary during a service). Given his vile actions, I don’t think he even deserves the title “Mr”. So we should refer to him as simply “Robinson”.

The Gay Bishop sounds like the title for a Gilbert and Sullivan production. 😉
