I myself am considering the priesthood …

Faithful 2 Rome:
No surprise that California has the more than any other State.

I blame wayward & weak Bishops for not cracking down on this sacralige.
That must be because California has FAR more people and FAR more Catholics than any other state in the nation…

The book “Goodbye, Good Men” by Michael S. Rose is a must read. He explains how the decline in vocations in the priesthood is connected to the radical liberalism that has infiltrated the seminaries. That active homosexuals are welcomed and even preferred to orthodox seminarians. How “self-fulfillment” has replaced “self-sacrifice”. They have a death wish for the male, celibate priesthood… It’s shocking at times and sickening but I find that it explains a lot.

To Nucatholic - there are names named and there are also seminaries listed that are orthodox and teach the true Church doctrines and tradition and always have - these have had increases in vocations.
Let’s pray for major reform in all seminaries so that the priesthood will once again be attractive to many good men who will be loyal to the Church teachings.
Keep in mind that Rose is a marginal author whose background is bookeeping, not investigative journalism.

I’m confused about something… maybe someone following this thread can help…

From what I’ve read here, the Church objects to homosexuality because the sexual act between two people of the same sex goes against the Church’s teachings on sex, correct?

So, if someone were homosexual and not engaging in sex with their partner…say 2 homosexual people who were brought up Catholic for example…they follow Church teachings in that way…is that ok?

If so, then aren’t we presuming someone’s actions by banning them just by their being homosexual? AND, then wouldn’t ANYONE who’s having premarital/extramarital sex be banned in the same way?

Thanks for any clarification.

I too went to the St. Joan of Arc parish web site to see what all the fuss was about. There were links to several articles supporting adoptions by same-sex couples. St. Joan of Arc Church is not reaching out to homosexuals to encourage them to live a life in accord with Christ’s and the Church’s teachings. But approving of homosexual relationships and adoption of children by gay couples!? Amazing.

It seems to me that the parish priest needs to be reassigned and a priest more in keeping with the Church’s teachings needs to be assigned there to “clean house”. I predict that will happen before long. And I don’t even know that parish. (That is what happened at the very liberal, very un-orthodox parish that we attended in NJ. The priests were reassigned about six years ago and the new priest was much more orthodox. Thankfully, this parish was NOT on the gay and lesbian website cited in the first post–but it would have been 7 years ago!)

Doubt it. SJA has been a fixture of this Archdiocese for years and years… (along with the amazingly traditional, orthodox, and beautiful St. Agnes parish I might add…:whacky:)

I foresee no change on the horizon unless our current Archbishop leaves and a more authoritative one takes his place. Flynn, our current Archbishop, is (I would say) orthodox personally, but is extremely “pastoral” so to speak in his episcopal ministry – don’t make waves, “love” them back to the faith with inclusive language, seems to be his way. Sigh.

I do like the man, and respect his office, and as has been noted before, the Archdiocese as a whole (minus the craziness at a few places like SJA) is turning more orthodox…but gee whiz, if he knows what is right and true, why does he do nothing (seemingly) to correct the wrongs?? It just seems bad for the souls of the flock to be this seemingly-impotent… even scandalous. And if he really is doing nothing, and is not bothered by this fact, that’s just horrible for me to consider.

Pray for our clergy!

Bingo! Go to the head of the class. And in your last paragraph, you can include married couples practicing contraception.

I think the only good “Gay-Friendly” list of parishes would be a list of churches that support Courage. The only organization within the Catholic church set up to support people with a same-sex attraction that abides by church teachings and is approved by the Vatican.

Info see Here

Any other organization, unless it promotes the same thing as Courage, is just an organization that confuses and misguides members seeking guidance. Thus not being friendly.
