I’m a student who works part time at a large multinational hardware-type store. Basically they support LGBT pride and have just received a bunch of rainbow themed products which as a member of staff I have to involve myself with by putting them through the tills for people and putting the displays out. I hate that the agenda is being pushed but anyway, Am I complicit in sin?

Short answer is no. Selling rainbow flag products is not inherently sinful and this is remote cooperation at the most.

Are you supporting the occult by putting out Halloween decorations? The Church does not condemn homosexuality itself and values it people involved. Pride was originally a parade in NY city by people who were fed up being treated as non-human by the police, I think the Church could support that. You are not condoning homosexual acts by doing this and honestly you simply employed to handle merchandise. People all over the world handle items in stores for customers that they don’t agree with.

Crazy world we live in, isn’t it. No, it isn’t sinful. It is not like you helped form the policy.

I’d only object to it for the same reason I hate when everything gets pink-washed. It’s a marketing ploy to fleece people who think they are doing good by buying a pricier product for a “cause”.

If it’s really bothering you could start looking for another job. I’m am in no way say you should or have to leave but if you don’t feel right about anything you have to sell or push I would start looking else where.

Yeah.

i seriously doubt that this hardware store has a vested interest in LGBT rights… It’s just another schtick

I am grateful to hear the sensitivity of your conscience. This once-Christian country is getting less and less sensitive to sins of every kind, and more accepting of every lie of satan. Thanks be to God for the few who cannot be part of the lie.

I would quit.

No, you are fine. The real world is a complicated place and you need to have income. I don’t agree with everything my employer supports.

The sin here isn’t promoting the gay lifestyle, it’s making a profit solely off the exploitation of vulnerable people, whether that be homosexuality or cancer.

This stuff is everywhere now. Everytime I open up one of my accounts at my job there Rainbow pages flying around. I’ve prayed for God to find me another job every single day. I’ve applied to other places, and don’t even get call backs. Even applied to my local diocese that had a job opening for the type of work I do with no call back.

I’m guessing, maybe God has a plan greater than I can figure out at the moment.

How can you know the “sole” motives involved? How can you know there is “exploitation” involved, and not the desire to advance an agenda? And even if what you speculate is actually the case, does it not matter HOW and WHAT they are “exploiting”?

Catechism
2394 Christ is the model of chastity. Every baptized person is called to lead a chaste life, each according to his particular state of life.
2395 Chastity means the integration of sexuality within the person. It includes an apprenticeship in self-mastery.
2396 Among the sins gravely contrary to chastity are masturbation, fornication, pornography, and homosexual practices.
2397 The covenant which spouses have freely entered into entails faithful love. It imposes on them the obligation to keep their marriage indissoluble.
2398 Fecundity is a good, a gift and an end of marriage. By giving life, spouses participate in God’s fatherhood.
2399 The regulation of births represents one of the aspects of responsible fatherhood and motherhood. Legitimate intentions on the part of the spouses do not justify recourse to morally unacceptable means (for example, direct sterilization or contraception).
2400 Adultery, divorce, polygamy, and free union are grave offenses against the dignity of marriage.

Good “Guess”! Hold onto that, with HOPE, based on trust and FAITH.

I go to national hardware stores. I see the stuff.

ZERO of it has profits going to any “cause”.

That is explotation.

MUCH is going to the so-called “gay” cause with recognition and approval of the business - and their customers. Social approval and acceptance of anything and everything that rejects Christian faith is a major goal of the evil one and his poor victims. THEY are truly exploited - by the evil one.

No, you’re not sinning just by being there, but I’d still leave if I were you. Not a healthy environment for keeping the faith.

It’s unpleasant, this idea of tolerance being a one-way street - we have to tolerate them for the unspeakable things they do with their genitals, we have to bake cakes for their degenerate “weddings,” we have to accept and perhaps even adore what they did to young boys like Desmond and “Lactatia,” but to them the core tenets of Christianity is and always will be unacceptable. To them something wholesome like Chick-fil-A is the second coming of the Third Reich and therefore must be crushed.

It’s not fair, this “relationship” we have with the gay community, but we can change that. And it starts with us saying no.

As others have said; I doubt they’d mind if you quit. It doesn’t sound like a sin to sell rainbows.

So you worry about the sin of selling things made through child labour? Or from substandard working conditions out of interest? These seem far more sinful.

Remember to teach those people humbleness! Pride is the major sin and it hates humbleness.

I agree. However, it would annoy me, too. Are these products sold to children?
