Generations of Mormons?

Mormonism is relatively new but I have often wondered how often does this faith get transmitted from one generation to another? There really is nothing much “historical” there or intellectual to grab on to. The children/young adults go out on missions but even how many of those stay with it for life? The same question for JW’s or similar types.
 
That depends on the people. If the family is strong in the church it’ll most likely go on for a looooong time. My generations date back to Joseph Smith.

Mormonism is still very much a very young religion and a religion that has evolved quite a lot over its short life span. Though I know Mormons like to trace their religion back through the American Indians and then to Israel–a “fact” that has its only “proof” in the tablets that no one has seen except Joseph Smith.
 
A must read for anyone who wants to know more about the Mormon Faith…Inside Mormanism by Isaiah Bennett.

Isaiah Bennett was a Catholic priest who was fascinated by the Mormon doctrines. He studied the doctrine and eventually became a Mormon. He has since left the Mormom church.

The book that he has written is an excellent source of history, both Catholic and Mormon. Isaiah Bennett is a kind author - the book is not a slam on the Mormon church.

I have found out more about the Catholic Faith and our history through this book from any other source that I have read.

All I said was it dates back to Joseph Smith. My ancestors going by fact, usually had kids in their early 20’s. Back then people had big families and married young as was the suggestion to the Mormons that they marry young and have lots of children. I never said it was long, I was just saying the family in general could stay in it for long. It is a young religion unless you count Mormon… I don’t need proof for that and if you do, well, thats your own personal problem. I believe its either 7 or 8 generations by the way… I’ll have to look it up.

The topic is about how long have new religions been in generations… why does it matter, that my history, has to be long?

I always get proof.
I don’t rely on a burning in my bossom or Testimony. If I did then anything goes.
Seek TRUTH.
 
I heard a story here in Utah that a lot of people cut the ends off the Roast when they cook it. Ask them why and they will tell you because that is the way it is done around here. Most can not awnswer, they just do it because their Mother or Grandmother did the same.
But years ago as the story is told was a women who lived in the south side of Cache Valley Utah. Her husband had just purchased a roast from Logan. But she did not have a pan large enough to fit it so she cut the ends off to make room. Her young daughter saw her mother doing this and assumed without asking that this is what you do with all roast. This is Utah. You tell them why they do what they do and you will be attacking their very core of faith and family. Very few can find the humility to love them as Christ loves us and to bring Christ to them as Christ. Most come to them with an agenda to convert them. Just as they have been taught to convert us, others. The only force that can move one of the lds faith to look into the First Church is the Spirit of God. Something hits their heart and they have a yearning to learn about that which they have been taught is evil. For me it was attending Mass for 15 years with my Catholic wife. Yes it took that long to see the light through the darkness. Once I did the light was very bright and remains so five years after my baptism.I can only thank my wife for her pateince and love. Because my wife is from Montreal and is half Mohawk and French I also found out what the power of the Saints is all about. Because it was one who lived many years ago that through his efforts brought Christ into my life because Christ brought my wife into mine. This faith is so, so huge!
