His reply isn’t in relation to the individual you mentioned. The individual you mentioned offers an interpretation which is both unsound doctrinally, and can’t be supported by any external evidence.
🤷 OK. So, you’re an equal-opportunity basher. 😉

Still, the point holds: in a number of posts, you were pointing out the various ways in which the opinions mentioned here weren’t Church teaching. They were valid critiques, inasmuch as they pointed out that personal opinion is not the same thing as Church teaching. They could have been written in a more charitable tone, but the points you raised were valid.

"Wow! So, scriptural interpretation done in charity that does not match your interpretation is wrong and that opinion needs to be changed? Even trained, academic theologians don’t make such demands of their colleagues, but rather open objective dialogue.

It almost sounds like you are claiming infallibility."

I don’t know which theologians you’re referring to, or what you’re even talking about. I’m simply stating the interpretation is wrong. Stating something is wrong doesn’t equate to infallibility. That doesn’t even make sense.
Finally, on 2 points we agree:
  1. You clearly do not, as you admit, “even know what you [that is, me] are talking about.”
  2. What you lament “doesn’t even make sense”

Mr. Neo"fight" ( this is quite descriptive of you)

I suggest you find a new hobby, and stop writing useless comments to me. As I recall, I didn’t even address you.

Dear All:

I apologize for misleading you. I gave my understanding.

It is not official teaching.

Again, I apologize for misleading you.

[1] In the beginning God created heaven, and earth. [2] And the earth was void and empty, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God moved over the waters. [3] And God said: Be light made. And light was made. [4] And God saw the light that it was good; and he divided the light from the darkness. [5] And he called the light Day, and the darkness Night; and there was evening and morning one day.

quesiotn 1: what are the waters in verse 2 and what is the deep in verse 2?

question 2: what is this light, is it the angels as the sun isn’t built for a another few days?
These are some of the things I think about. Light and darkness are a way of separating the Whole into 2 parts. In the abstract it can be the beginning of further divisions.

The English translation, “Was void and empty” in the original Hebrew can also mean, “Became void and empty” Before Adam and Eve were created, Satan (who’s original name was Lucifer, the :Light bearer) had already disobeyed God and convinced 1/3 of the angels to follow him (Satan) rather than God. There was a “War in Heaven” at thigh time and fighting between the good angels and bad angels (now demons), each of these angels was a tremendously powerful being and if God had already created Earth before this “war” how great might that destruction of Earth might have been.

As far as God creating light before He created a sun. We get out physical light from the Sun but God does not need the Sun to provide light. God is all powerful and is perfectly capable of creating anything He wants to all by Himself, without the Sun.

As far as the “waters above the Earth”, I have no Idea and I will read the answers to your great question to see if someone else can help me understand. God bless you in all you do, guide you in all your ways, and grant you the understanding of the Scriptures and every Spiritual insight needed for you to go to Heaven and to fulfill every good thing that God created you for.

“As far as God creating light before He created a sun. We get out physical light from the Sun but God does not need the Sun to provide light.” The sun’s function of producing light is secondary.

“God is all powerful and is perfectly capable of creating anything He wants to all by Himself, without the Sun.” Without the relative mass and rotation of the sun, earth, moon, and orbiting planets, life wouldn’t exist on earth. To think that the sun was created on the fourth day is ridiculous.

As far as the “waters above the Earth”,

That’s not a correct rendering. I will provide the full translation, “And God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament “Heaven.” And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.”

The firmament here in reference to is the expanse of space directly above the earth, and not outer-space, as some assert. It divided the waters from waters, which is to say, it divided the super-incumbent vapors which were above the abyss of waters below. The waters above the firmament are the vapors resolved from the waters which are raised above a part of the atmosphere, and from which the rain falls. The net result was the clearing of the atmosphere. Furthermore, the firmament is called Heaven for the sole reason that the space it occupies divides between certain water vapors, and those waters which flow more fully on earth. (De Gen. ad Lit., II, iv. 7)

However, with that being said, there is more to the text than I have mentioned, which I won’t include here.

Thank you for your correct rendering of the scripture and letting me and others know that the waters talked about in Genesis 1 does not refer to the waters of the oceans.
