Has anyone else come across the purported message that is hidden in Genesis 5? Apparently, if you translate all of the roots in the genealogy presented in Genesis 5 it reveals a messianic message that is thought to refer to Jesus:
Code:
**Hebrew = English**

Adam = Man
Seth = Appointed
Enosh = Mortal
Kenan = Sorrow
Mahalalel = The Blessed God
Jared = Shall come down
Enoch = Teaching
Methuselah = His death shall bring
Lamech = The Despairing
Noah = Comfort (or Rest)
(joshuanet.org/articles/missler/gen5.htm)

What do you guys think of this. When I looked this up in a couple of online hebrew dictionaries I didnt come up with a similar message.

Any thoughts on this? Amazing if it is true but I am still a bit skeptical.

Sounds a bit convenient, but hey?

I’m a skeptic until noted otherwise!

“Of the subsequent history of Eve the Bible gives little information. In Genesis 4:1, we read that she bore a son whom she named Cain, because she got him (literally, “acquired” or “possessed”) through God–this at least is the most plausible interpretation of this obscure passage. Later she gave birth to Abel, and the narrative does not record the birth of another child until after the slaying of Abel by his older brother, when she bore a son and called his name Seth; saying: “God hath given me [literally, “put” or “appointed”] another seed, for Abel whom Cain slew”.”

Catholic Encyclopedia: from last century:

Enosh is a synonym for ADAM: meaning Man

Cain does not mean I have produced: but a phrase referred to in the bible: qaniti : when naming him means this. But the Encyclopedia places it as aquired.

"Contemporary literary criticism values intertextual biblical associations such as the “new Adam” motifs from Genesis to Paul, which form a biblical matrix from which was developed the Christian dogma of “original sin.” Paul did not create the “new Adam” motif. The concept of a “new Adam” is so biblically prominent that some of its initial adumbrations appear as early as Genesis 5:3, 6: “Adam . . . begot a son in his likeness, after his image; and he named him Seth… Seth … became the father of Enosh . . . " (NAB). Allusions to this theme continue to be heard in the often-recited Psalm 8:5, which asks, “What is man [Hebrew enosh, LXX anthropos] that you should be mindful of him, or the son of man [Hebrew ben-adam, LXX huios anthropou] that you should care for him?” A whole cluster of biblical names, terms, and motifs in both the Hebrew and Greek Bibles ranging from Adam, Seth, and Enosh to “image and likeness” to Son of Man converge around the Christian memory and description of Jesus. Paul then develops this pre-existing interpretive cluster intensively in his comparison and contrast between Christ and Adam in Romans 5.[30]”

In any case, I think they have been trying to fit it a bit, sounds bible code like: maybe I will look into the others some other time!
