It reads-
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

Who are the Nephilim? Are they good or bad? When did they die out?

a) we really don’t know
b) these were ancient legends of giants so not necessarily anything literal or factual
c) see: http://www.usccb.org/bible/genesis/6#01006001-1

When I say that Carnegie and Ford were “giants of industry”, do I mean that they stood 12 feet tall?

When I say that “it is raining cats and dogs”, do I mean that dachshunds and calicoes are falling from the sky?

democrats? that was a joke. PLEASE!
they were pretty wicked dudes and frankly at this point, “what difference does it make?” ~ HRC

Sorry just couldn’t help myself 😏

Genesis 6: 1-3 tells us that the Nephilim were sons of the true God. [or angels] They were giants, the violent superhuman offspring produced when wicked angels mated with human women in the days of Noah. See Jude chapter 6. They were giant bullies, tyrants who filled the earth with violence. (Genesis 6:13) The Bible describes them as “the mighty ones of old times, the men of fame.” (Genesis 6:4) They left behind a legacy of violence and fear.—Genesis 6:5; Numbers 13:33. Jehovah caused a global flood to destroy that violent ancient world. The Nephilim were wiped out along with all wicked people.

Catholic apologist on Relevant Radio says that the Sons of God were the offspring of the righteous like Seth ( who called on the name of the Lord ) and the Sons of men were the offspring
of the unrighteous ( Cain etc.)

Make good speculation for those who believe in ancient aliens. 😉

Nephilims, which is commonly translated as giants, is mentioned in Genesis 6:1–4, immediately before the account of Noah’s Ark, when sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.

They were also mentioned in Numbers 13:32–33, where ten of the twelve spies reported that they have seen fearsome giants in Canaan.

The ambiguity notwithstanding, their origin is subjected to speculation, from angels (sons of God) to the bigger Canaanites, perhaps of Caucusian ancestors who are bigger than the Semites.

Obviously the exact information had been lost in the long march of time that scholars today are left to scratch their heads to figure what these mysterious creatures might be.
