I was just watching the news here in Germany. They mentioned that more and more people are leaving the Church. This year there were more who left the Church than those who were baptized.
In 2010 180.000 left the Church, especially in Bavaria which was a very Catholic region.😦

I am glad. Let them leave so the faithful can flourish spiritually.

If they want to turn their back on the one true faith, then you do not really want them to just hang around and spread the “sickness.” They need to leave to realize what the church is - the one true faith.

Don’t be glad for people leaving. When ever people spurned Jesus he never was glad when they finally left, but sad for them. The Church is the cornerstone and the One True Faith. But those leaving need our prayers, and the guidance and help of the Holy Spirit. Praying for the unity of the Christians in the world is important, and I’m know that its through these prayers that I was brought to the Catholic faith from being a cradle Anglican. 🙂

Indeed. I am often disturbed when I see the more fringe Catholics give the impression that they reject the grand chunk of the world’s population that are Catholic. You’d think they’d go full speed reverse to the dark times where we met in secret if they had their way.

If you ask me, a persecution complex is just another foul form of pride.

I guess people are just lazy to get off their butts and try to actually do something to make the Church more convincing and appealing without compromising truth.

They also don’t address the reasons------however wrong some of the may be-----that folks feel compelled to leave Holy Mother Church. In order to give a response to----or at least correct the misinterpretations and/or errors.

European Media has a very Negative attitude to The Church, even religion. Don’t believe all the Hype you hear. Pope Benedict is showing The Way, of Christ, not self-centered mistaken imprerssions people who leave the Church for a while, based on Their opinions, whicvh Usually are Proven Wrong. Servus, Gruss Gott!. Antal

People who crazily “Feel Compelled” to Leave the Church because of their Mistaken Opinions need Our Prayers. I Know Bayern, Begining 1st 3 grades in a small cow town, Cowbarn First Floor, 2 classrooms above, in Krumbach Oestreich. Gruss Gott.

When lukewarm catholics are comfortable, they eventually fall into sin but do not make use of the Sacrament of Penance. This damages the charity of virtue and in the case of mortal sin kills the virtue altogether. Speaking the truth in this way is how to help these people. I try to do this consistently.

Your post is a little uncharitable by the way.

We’re Glad Lost Wanderer shrares his innermost thoughts with us. I, many of us have been lost wanderers befiore we discovered the ideal Nature of our Ideal Lord/His Church.

I speak about radicals going full speed in driving away as many people as they can from the Church in the hopes of making it back to the ‘glory days’ when we were a persecuted elect few and you go on an irrelevant rant about ‘lukewarm Catholics’?

If you’re trying to argue with me, you can at least make sense.

Not my fault if you let facts strike your nerves.

Truth and Charity are the way to speak when directing people back to the faith.

We should never rejoice when our brothers and sisters leave the Church. It is the One and only True Faith. But it is a Truth that many perhaps never knew they had. We must continue to love them and to pray for them to return to the fold.

I agree with loving them and praying for them. On a few occasions, it is worth trying a new technique. Call their bluff about leaving and show them to the door. The purpose is to confront them with the reality of striking out on their own into the wilderness. If they know the door is always open for their return, they may someday in the future realize the “pearl of great price” this church represents and will come running back into it’s arms like the prodigal son. They will be renewed, strengthened, filled with zeal for the faith.

I for one, will run out to greet them on the road.
