I went through a rough time earlier this year and had to cut contact with my entire family, at the advise of several priests. Since then, I have stopped going to mass. I was still going a few weeks after it happened, but it was too painful seeing all the happy families. I just sat there and cried the entire hour and haven’t gone since June. I went to All Saint’s Day, but it wasn’t any better.
Generally, I have a hard time leaving the house. If I don’t have work, or I absolutely need food, I’m not leaving. I’ve had to quit my full time job for health reasons and now only work part time. I always plan out my day “I’m going to do this and that…” but my chronic health problems or depression get the better of me. I feel so pathetic for not being able to work full time or getting myself to mass/confession. Like, these things aren’t that hard. Whenever I think of bringing this to confession, it just feels like excuses because people worse off than me are making it there.
Surprisingly, I still pray and have never felt His presence stronger in my life. Now that it’s Advent, I’ve planned to go to confession every day this week, but I still haven’t gotten there- it’s so frustrating.
