Did you ever fix up that van door, by the way?
Ugh. No. The airbag light came on so we took care of that first, and now there’s a recall on my husband’s car that’s urgent. Once that is done, door is next.

I wish stuff, car or no, would stop breaking long enough for us to catch our breath a bit.

When my son was born 14 years ago, Toys R Us would take returns without a gift receipt, as long as they carried the item.

I had received a number of gifts that I could not use, so I returned those and almost always got diapers.

Prime is awesome.

We do about 90% of our non grocery/toiletry shopping on there.

Getting the free shipping and two-day delivery is so nice.

Plus we have a Roku to stream shows.

If it makes you feel any better, DH’s car currently has two safety recalls out on it, and mine either three or four.

However, we’ve run into a snag. DH can’t take time off of work. The cars have to be fixed at the dealership, not at the awesome shop we usually use which, among its many assets, will drive you back home after you drop off the car and pick you up when they’ve finished working on the car. The dealership’s service department is only open until noon or so on Saturday, so having DH follow us there and drive us home on a Saturday isn’t an option.

The work timeline for my car is 6-8 hours, but the dealership refuses to a) issue me a loaner (“the work should be completed in a single day, so you don’t need a loaner and the service manager can’t authorize it for such a short job”) or b) give DD and me a ride home (they claim that they can’t let me take the time to install her carseat properly in their shuttle van). I think that I might be able to come up with a more eighth-circle-of-hell-worthy scenario than chasing a toddler at a car dealership for six hours, but it would take quite a lot of time, a fair amount of access to controlled substances, and would come out sounding like something out of Edgar Allen Poe in one of his more opium-dependent moments. 😛 So for now, we’re waiting until we have a houseguest with a car that we can impose on.

It’s pretty ridiculous.
