Since it is so hard to evangelize family, wouldn’t it be great if there was some sort of local network to evangelize your family for you? If this exists, please let me know.

I was thinking it would work by people volunteering to knock on doors kind of like the Legion of Mary does. Some would volunteer and post their location. When they got a request in their area they would go to that house.

Are you asking if you have an obligation to evangelize your family?

OP, I just mentioned a similar concept the other day. Actually, I coordinated a visit between a family member and our priest. They had a very nice visit. But, so far she’s not coming back to church.

It is very difficult to watch our family struggle without God active in their lives. I need to study more on St. Monica. She prayed for 30 years before Augustine came to the church.

God Bless you and your family.

Evangelize by your life.
God bless you.

I have an obligation to will what is best for my family. I know that I may not be the best person to bring them back to the Church. I agree with the other poster, that I should lead a life of holiness and hopefully they will see this.

But practically speaking, it would be nice if I could make a phone call and “hire” somebody to go talk to them. I pray that some person will come into their lives to bring them back to the Church, why not put that prayer into action?

Because I don’t know many people who respond to
“hey, come here., I’m going to fix your thinking”.

Human nature. People hate to be told they are holding a view that is not right for them.
That’s why the Church doesn’t go door to door. The Church doors are open, the arms of Christ are wide open. If people come to a point in their lives where they realize God is missing, they are welcome to come and receive the support of a great team, the RCIA folks, the pastor, and many parishioner’s prayers for them.

I know I don’t appreciate it when people come to my door and leave pamphlets.

People who desire a conversion of heart have to experience a fair amount of humility. Until they are ready to do that…it’s kind of counterproductive to force the issue. They’ll only dig in their heels.

People looking for dates go where the singles are. People seeking God, should turn up at His house. 😉

God bless you.

I think it does. It’s called “the Communion of Saints”.

Are you saying that the Legion of Mary has been wasting their time? What about all the souls that have been saved because somebody spread the news of the Gospel to them?

By the way, I’m pretty sure they simply show up and ask the people if they have any prayer requests. If the people ask questions, the “door-knockers” are ready to answer and give any necessary information. This is all I would be looking for as well.

I’ve never known any Legion of Mary group to go door to door. And do they visit EVERYONE? or just known Catholic homes?
Where do you live?
I’m pretty sure that’s a local construct, and not part of the membership requirements.

They do this in my area. I don’t know if they go to every door. Somebody else will have to fill in the details. I do know it was more common decades ago.
