Ghosts are real?

Wow this gave me chills!

We never told any of our visitors about this man because we ourselves never saw him. At first we dismissed the first few claims but then more and more visitors over the years saw that same man. I particularly remember babysitting two kids and one time they came running to me claiming that my brother has returned and was sitting in the living room. I knew for a fact that my brother was on business trip in Dallas so it could not be him.

I and my family believe people such as relatives watch over us and sometimes pay us a visit in trying times or after death (a few days to a week after in my personal experience.) I believe my grand father has visited me and I think my dog may still be here at times. My dad swears he heard the click clicking of her paws on the wood floor. That may have been his imagination though as her death really shook all of us up.

In college some friends of mine lived in an old house and weird stuff would happen.

Pet birds going nuts for no reason
Dog barking at things not there
Lights going on and off

I was in a bedroom changing cloths and the TV came on, changed channels twice and then turned off. There was no one else in the room and the remote was sitting next to me on a table.

No idea if ghost are real or not and I don’t dwell on it to the point of letting it effect my faith but that was freaky and not something I think should be played with.

My advice is to let the memory be just that, a memory, and not to search for answers or reasons.

I found that searching for some answers actually really helped me cope with what happened to me. I had a bad experience with something once and I learned about what it was and now I know how to handle it if it happens again and I hope to the high heavens it never does.

I believe it’s possible- but calling it a ghost just makes it sound silly to me (I get visions of casper- haha). I believe the spirit world is all around us. Just as Angels and demons can walk among us- sometimes souls can reach out to us for help from Purgatory (with God’s permission). I don’t know what you experienced, it could have been a soul- or it could have been something dangerous. The only thing you can do in those cases, even now, is to pray. Time doesn’t exist in Heaven- it only exists for us… so a prayer even long after the fact could still help her even now. She may have been a lost soul needing your prayers? If she no longer needs your prayers and she’s now in Heaven, then those prayers will go towards another soul who needs them. If your experience was demonic in nature- then those prayers still won’t go to waste. Thank God and your Heavenly family for keeping you safe.

I have no doubt you experienced what you did. People have said some useful things here about Catholic belief

I just wanted to add, if one of your Grandparents was near death, keep in mind the devil fights very fiercely for a soul near death, knowing that anyone can falter near the end of a very long journey. There may have been heightened demonic (and presumably, Angelic) activity around your house as your Grandparent prepared for their last battle. Prayer is the only response to this

I also strongly agree with what Joelle and Josie said, there is still time for you to pray about this moment. Time has no limits to God, who listens to all our prayers. I would offer a prayer for all souls in purgatory, especially your deceased grandparent, and for whomever you heard crying that night.

Any time you find yourself dwelling on this issue, offer this prayer and think on it no further. God has probably let you experience this for a reason. Prayer is the only response we can sensibly have to this stuff, our senses are too limited and we will be easily deceived by the evil one if we ask too many questions about the spirit world.
