Unless it’s just a trick of the light, in the second picture the eyes seem to be closed. Does the head contain a concealed mechanical device that opens and closes the eyes?

And where is this church? My guess would be a Latin American country.

You’re right! After zooming in … they are! Reminds me of those doll babies that have eyes which open and close too. 😧
 
Ok, let’s be honest. Even if it weren’t humongous, it is poorly sculpted. What is the point of it being so huge?

I suspect the “La Epifania del Senor” church may be Protestant (One can only hope the Catholics would have commissioned a less homely statue), but Baby Jesus seemed like a Catholic topic anyway.

Is this a Catholic church? I had my doubts and was kind of hoping it wasn’t us. I haven’t been able to determine the denomination of the church anywhere.
