Hi everyone!

We have an older priest at my parish who has been working around the clock because some other priests are on leave or sick. He’s done first communions, conformations, Mass, and everything else all by himself. And it’s been more than one occasion He’s worked because all the sacraments being celebrated are broken up by groups and numerous nights due to social distancing. He looks exhausted. I asked him how he was doing tonight and he used those exact words “exhausted.”

Anyways, besides a tropical vacation to an island, does anyone have an idea of what we can get our hard working priest to show our appreciation or give him a break?

Thanks so much and than you to all the priest for all you do!

You might also ask him when he might have time for a relaxation break and if there’s something he might want to do on his “free” day, for example attend a sporting event or be taken out to dinner, and then some of you can make it happen. I had a conversation about a year ago with a similarly overworked priest and he expressed some frustration about having to turn down social invites from parishioners because they kept inviting him on days that were bad for his schedule. Apparently no one thought to ask him what days he might have free.

Is there a nice, relaxing hot springs with mineral waters and spa near you? If so, a gift card to something like that could prove very pleasant for him and also very healthy, especially if it offers a private suite with a jacuzzi in it that he, alone, could enjoy.
