Hello everyone!

My girlfriend has met both my parents and brothers many times and has been to my house multiple times as well and finally I am meeting her family and staying at her house for the weekend. We both go to the same college and my parents live 40 minutes away whereas hers are 3 hours away so it just hasn’t been possible to meet them until now.

I’m wondering what gift should I give the parents as a thank you for having me stay the weekend with them?

If you know what kind of food they like to eat, then bringing some is a good “guest gift”. For example, if they like gourmet cheese, or a certain kind of candy, etc. Bring enough for everybody. Ask your girlfriend what they enjoy.

A “hostess gift” is a very nice gesture. Nice bottle of wine and flowers, specialty foods or sweets from your geographic location is also nice.

FOOD!!! Always food. Bake if you’re any good at it… if not then nice cheeses and wine, or chocolate truffles, something like that. Flowers for mom is always a winner too.

If they have pets, then consider also bring a bone or a toy (pet people eat that right up!)

If the family is Catholic it is a wonderful gift. People give me rosaries as gifts all the time.
