Hello everyone,

I am a recent convert from atheism and I have only very little experience in practical issues regarding faith and community, which is why I am posting my question on the forum. I talked to the bishop of my diocese after Mass some months ago and he had the idea of me getting confirmed. Instead of taking courses for a year in a group with others, he took the time to introduce me to the faith so I would be prepared for confirmation within some months. I am really thankful for this, so I am thinking about giving him a gift at my confirmation. Is it possible/appropriate to give a gift to a bishop? And if yes, are there gifts which are considered traditional or fitting in this case?

Welcome!

I would suggest something universal, like an Amazon gift card or gift card to local restaurants.

A Spiritual Bouquet is something special for clergy.

A donation in his name to his favorite charity, to the Seminarian Fund, to the Retired Priests Fund, etc.

Call his secretary and ask her what she thinks would be a suitable gift. It’s a question people ask bishops’ secretaries all the time.

A bottle of something nice probably wouldn’t go amiss.
