I have a few questions. We are having our marriage blessed this Friday and our children are getting baptized on Sunday. Is it approprate to give the Priest a monetary gift? Also, after the blessing, me, my husband and our parents are going to dinner…is it appropriate to invite the Priest? Same thing with after the baptism…is it appropriate to invite him to the small gathering afterwards?
One more thing…I need some unique ideas for godfather gifts. Can anyone help me out with this? I just thought of getting gift cards?

Thanks!

Yes, it is very appropriate to give the priest a small stipend. The amount varies from region to region but I would guess that $25.00 to $50.00 would be appropriate. It depends on what you can afford. It is also, very nice to invite him to dinner. He may or may not accept but the invitation is nice.

As for a small gift for the Godparents; well, when my wife and I agreed to be Godparents for the two daughters of our good friends, they purchased two very beautiful metal sculpted bookmarks for our bibles. so I would suggest that you stop by a Catholic book and gift shop or look on line for one of the many shops that offer these things. (leaflet press, Tan books, etc.)

Welcome to the Catholic church.

**Yes it’s appropriate…we had our wedding convalidated Oct. 2nd…both our priests helped me along my journey to the church…so in our envelope was a generous gift…and then we took both priests and my confirmation sponsor one of our deacons and his wife and our son to dinner…They do a lot of us…some we know about and more we don’t know about.
