Odd question, but I recently purchased an icon of the Rublev Holy Trinity. Various details of the icon have the appearance of gilding, including what appear to be stars on the cloaks of the Son and the Holy Spirit (but not the Father). I’m curious, is this merely an embellishment or is there some significance to this? It seemed an odd addition, as I have not seen an example of the Trinity icon that looked like this. Any expert icon knowledge would be appreciated.

The second link explains the colors used, in that explanation it mentions the center figure, Christ, wears the blue cloak of heaven. The figure at the right, the Holy Spirit wears a garment the clear blue of the sky. It would seem that the stars would be in there.

There are also stars on our Lady’s blue mantle in the image/icon of the Virgin of Guadalupe, explained here:
