It’s that time of year again in Missouri. I find this very confusing since the catholic schools have girl scouts and the troops are selling cookies…It’s well-established that the parent company of GS contributes to Planned Parenthood. The parent group gets some of the profits from cookies, so if I buy cookies, am I being complicit in supporting PP? Thoughts?

As the troop gets just a pittance from each box sold, you may want to just make a donation to the troop instead, that way, 100% of the money goes to them. 🙂

That is exactly what I have been doing for several years. I DO NOT buy the cookies. but I do stop at their tables and offer a donation as long as they promise it will stay in the troupe! They have always been happy to do so. And I tell my friends what I do !!! God Bless, Memaw

I’ve been doing the same for years, local troops do great work with the girls. The councils have generated some very questionable programs.

From Life News.com

A blurb about GSA…

"GSUSA will try to assure you that all the proceeds from cookie sales stay local to benefit girls in their community. But the rest of the story is that GSUSA makes millions of dollars each year through licensing fees paid by the baker. The girls themselves keep on average approximately 15% of the purchase price from working their little tails off peddling cookies, while the local councils – which expose our daughters to pro-abortion organizations, resources, role models, and events – receive the largest piece of the profit from cookie sales. The reality is most councils could not survive financially without the help of those cute girls participating in cookies sales, the councils’ main source of income.

It’s hard to say no to those little sweethearts in the green and brown sashes. However, I just can’t bring myself to fund GSUSA and local councils, and further facilitate their indoctrination of our daughters. I’m not a big boycotter. But to me this is different than giving money to Chevron, Gap, Nike, or any of the other hundreds of organizations that fund Planned Parenthood. This is about girls – millions of girls. "

I’d personally go with what Deacon Jeff said. That plus the fact it’s the GSA troop at the Catholic school seems like it’s no problem.

  1. That’s the short list…

I buy GS cookies ONLY from one of my clients because it’s diplomatic, and just buy one or two boxes each year. Otherwise, no, I won’t buy them, partly because they’re ridiculously expensive anyway, but mostly because I won’t support anything that sends money to PP.if I can help it.

Did you two not read what Deacon Jeff posted??? The sale of Girl Scout cookies DOES NOT SUPPORT PLANNED PARENTHOOD!

So, why do we keep getting the same stories circulating? There is no new information. Life News does not “well establish” anything. The are another blog ran by a few folks with their own agendas and prejudice. If you believe what they say, then don’t buy the cookies. There are other individuals who will say the same thing. What we have is evidence that there is money that goes from GSA to PP, not proof, and in my opinion, very weak evidence. So what do I do when confronted with what amounts to accusations that are less than compelling? I go to the horse’s mouth. GSA disavows any organizational connection or that money goes to PP. 🤷

Any way, that is how I look at it. I will not buy the cookies, but only because I have a temporary hiatus on all cookies and chips in the house.
