If your reason for leaving the Lutheran Church is that you agree with Catholicism on an essential doctrine (such as the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist) then more power to you!
Lutherans and Catholics, at least according to the Concordia, are very close doctrinally. Lutherans understand themselves as having the physical presense of Christ in the Eucharist, and agree with Catholics on a number of issues… I am fully aware of the Catholic Church’s stance on Lutherans not having effective Sacraments, but Apostolic Succession aside, Lutherans and Catholics agree much more than most people think.

Hello! I am a Lutheran Seminary student, and will soon become ordained and begin serving a parish in my church. I have come to realize that I disagree with several of my church’s major teachings. I am trying to find a good, orthodox church to join. Why should I be Catholic, and how would one go about becoming a priest if they were already ordained in another tradition?
Hello friend…

To which teachings do you disagree, if you don’t mind me asking? As far as becoming a priest, simply find a Catholic church and talk to a priest/bishop. For me it started with finding the church built by Jesus as opposed to mere men, knowing that Jesus’ church cannot fail regardless of the chaff mixed in with the wheat, and knowing that she as the bride of Christ was/is being guided by the holy spirit “forever.”

To trust Jesus’ church is to trust Jesus the God-man, Who is the head and Savior of His Body, the church! To trust one of the many man-made churches in the world today is to trust mere men, not to impugn their work of course. Once I found the church established by Jesus on Pentecost, in Jerusalem, circa 33 AD, everything fell into place. Sadly my sister is still running from one man made church to another attempting to find a church that agrees with her belief system, which is a big no-no as far as the bible is concerned.

Jesus said:

I will build MY church. Jesus is the builder; it’s His church!!!

Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. Psalms 127:1
