In a museum once, I saw a painting or sketch of the Cleansing of the Temple. It was by a contemporary Russian artist, but I have no other information and have been unable to find it on the internet.
This artwork was rather simple, almost cartoonish. It showed all the people back-to, as if they were running away from the viewer. Jesus with the whip of cords was closest, and slightly beyond him were a few merchants and maybe an overturning table or two.
The nice thing about this, but also the challenge, is that there are no faces. Jesus’ zeal and the merchants’ surprise must be shown in their bodily postures.
