So today I was at Walmart and there was a couple outside asking for money. They looked really in need so I gave them a five dollar bill. What are your thoughts on this? To give or not to give?
I’ve given cash in the past and I’ve stopped to pick up food/drink and given that… but honestly I wouldn’t give to someone set up outside a Walmart. That one seems like a handy set-up or the ones that do it as a job. But having said that, I’d use many things to discern the need, intention and legitimacy. If those things ring true to me, I’d give… and if they were faking or doing it as a ‘job’ as many do in large cities - then oh well, I gave in good faith!
Give money. If they are liars you heap coals on them for their judgment by your charity, if they aren’t then you’ve helped someone and done a good work for the glory of God. Whichever happens is not up to you
