Last summer, I visited some of my in-laws. There was a good Catholic store nearby. So I bought some fairly nice Rosaries (but not overly expensive).
a) I had them blessed.
b) I prayed at least one chaplet of the Rosray (one set of mysteries) with each.
c) I gave one each to several of my closer in-laws with these instructions (always in a one-on-one setting):
The Rosary is not magic nor superstition. In the New Testament St Paul gave out handkerchiefs. So the Bible says items can be used to help us in prayer.
If they ever wanted to or if they were ever in need, they could hold the Rosary in their hand and pray the Lord’s Prayer. And that my prayers would be joined with their prayers. Because I had already prayed with their Rosary. If their prayer was according to God’s will it would be answered. Keep the Rosary always.
I also determined that they were only going to be respectful to my wishes and not abuse the Rosary. I had nobody turn me down. And even one sister-in-law who doesn’t go to church accepted the Rosary gladly. Perhaps she will pray with it someday. I think everybody prays sometime, especially if they find themselves in great trouble.
