GK Chesterton as a Saint?

I heard awhile back that Chesterton is being considered for sainthood? Is this true? Does anyone have any information regarding his current status?
 
It is true, but I think they’re still recollecting his life records so that his cause can be investigated… There has also been a bit of a debate of wheter or not he’d have the necessary heroic virtue to be a canonized saint (this is due to his notorious eating and drinking habits), but no official announcement has been yet done on the matter.

It could take longer than usual to evaluate his life. Part of that will be examining his writings for error. He has a lot of material to review.

Then again, so did St Pope John Paul II, and they managed to evaluate his life very quickly. But there was such an outcry on his death, ‘‘santo subito’’ that I thought we might have the first canonization by acclamation in centuries.

I would like to share some information on G.K. Chesterton’s “notorious eating and drinking habits”. First off, here is a article written by Dale Ahlquist, president of the American Chesterton Society, on the matter:

Secondly, to sum it up in a nutshell, Chesterton’s fatness (I can use that term because Chesterton jokingly and humbly used it to describe himself), was due to a glandular condition. He never really drank too much either, and praised and thanked God for his drink with his temperance towards it.
